Brief Description:

The Construction Estimator will work with clients and internal staff to create and present realistic cost analysis regarding construction projects.

 

Main Duties:

  • Project Analysis: Review drawings, project specifications, and other relevant documents to understand project scope, requirements, and constraints.

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including material quantities, labor hours, and equipment costs.

  • Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers, subcontractors, and other potential project partners. Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure competitive advantage.

  • Budget Development: Collaborate with the project management team to develop project budgets, including cost breakdowns and cash flow projections.

  • Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and alternative materials or methods while maintaining quality and safety standards.

  • Risk Assessment: Analyze project risks and uncertainties, such as market conditions, labor availability, and potential changes in scope. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and manage uncertainties.

  • Cost Tracking: Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to ensure accurate budget management and cost control.

  • Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals for clients and owners. Ensure that bids are submitted on time and meet all project requirements.

  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project details, address inquiries, and negotiate changes when necessary.

  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to maintain competitiveness in bidding and estimating.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of project estimates, bids, and related documentation.

 

Employment Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a construction estimator.

 

Hours: Monday-Friday – Day Hours

Automotive Mechanic

DC Recruiting is looking for candidates with automotive experience to work at a shop in Haldimand County. 310T and 310S mechanics and unlicensed candidates are welcome to apply. See the job description below and apply if this is a fit for you.

 

Main Duties:

  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor.

  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment.

  • Move tools, equipment, and other materials to and from work areas.

  • Assist in repairing, maintaining, and installing industrial machinery and equipment.

  • Assist in mechanical, electrical and body repairs of automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.

  • Perform other labouring and elemental tasks as required.

 

 

Employment Requirements:

Automotive experience is a must.

310T or 310S mechanics are preferred.

 

Hours:

Monday to Saturday for 40 hours per week

 

Wage:

$25-$35 per hour – depending on experience and/or certification

Carpenter/Framer

DC Recruiting is searching for a Carpenter/Framer in Caledonia, Ontario. Work is centered around interior renovations and some outdoor work such as framing and building new decks and pergolas.

 

Main Duties:

  • Read and accurately interpret plans/drawings/blueprints and organize materials accordingly.

  • Carpentry duties to include; Demolition & rebuilds, framing, load bearing wall removals, support beams, window and door installation, HVAC preparation, trim work, drywall, trim, finishes.

  • Hands on; measure, cut, assemble, and join mouldings, woodwork, install drywall, fit and install hardware, build walls, install vanities, storage units etc.

  • Outside duties including building decks, pergolas and other outdoor structures.

  • Skillfully and safely operate hand & power tools.

  • Material and Tool Management; Maintain supply lists; ensure tools are available, maintained and in good working order.

  • Pick up and deliver required materials to job sites ongoing.

 

Employment Requirements:

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program and/or 3-5 years of experience with residential renovations.

  • Sound knowledge of the Ontario Building Code

  • Experience with residential renovations

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with other trades/vendors, clients, and co-workers.

  • Ensure worksite is clean and compliant as per safety rules, regulations, and company policies.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, organization, planning and prioritization.

  • Clean drivers abstract with G Licence.

  • Have your own transportation and tools.

  • Must be able to provide a criminal check.

  • Honest and ethical with high performance standards.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Exceptional customer service.

  • Excellent attendance.

 

Hours:

Full-time consistent working hours between 8am-5pm Monday to Friday

Overtime as required

$25 - $30/hour based on experience

 

Additional Information:

Candidates must have a G class license and a clean driving record

 

Wage:

$25.00-$30.00 per hour depending on experience
